Jurgen Klopp gives Naby Keita injury update as Liverpool fear midfield crisis

Liverpool's Naby Keita was forced off with an injury in the first-half of Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Brighton on Saturday afternoon.

The Guinea international was a surprise inclusion against the Seagulls after he was stretchered off against Manchester United last weekend.

He lasted just 20 minutes before he made way for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the 26-year-old sustained a hamstring problem but the extent of it is not yet known.

On the surface, there's a wonderful serenity at Liverpool right now, writes the ECHO's Paul Gorst in the latest Blood Red column.

Bubbling under the surface, however, are two issues that require urgent attention.

Or rather, it is the same issue that concerns two of the most pivotal figures at Liverpool both on and off the pitch.

The most pertinent and well-publicised one, of course, centres around Mohamed Salah.

But if Salah's contract is a pressing concern for Michael Edwards, his own will also be at the forefront of the thinking.
