Michael Edwards completes fourth transfer masterstroke while Ibrahima Konate shines for Liverpool

Here is your Liverpool morning digest for Wednesday, July 21

Michael Edwards gets his way again in four Liverpool transfer deals

There has been a common theme running through the deals done by Liverpool so far in the current transfer window.

Earlier this summer, at a combined £4.3m, the departures of Liam Millar to Basel and Kamil Grabara to Copenhagen certainly did not generate fees that could be described as eye-catching.

But it was the presence of a 20% sell-on clause in each agreement that represented arguably their most noteworthy element.

Today saw the news that Marko Grujic and Taiwo Awoniyi are leaving - to FC Porto and Union Berlin - for a combined total of around £17m. Both sales are understood to contain 10 per cent sell-on clauses.

What was once a rarely seen quirk has Liverpool's transfer business has become routine since Michael Edwards was appointed to the role of sporting director almost five years ago.

Liverpool fans rave over Ibrahima Konate moment during debut vs Stuttgart

Liverpool fans finally got to see the first signing of the summer in action as Ibrahima Konate made his debut for the Reds in their 1-1 draw with VfB Stuttgart.

For many, it was the first sight of the £36m man, who Jurgen Klopp pried away from RB Leipzig shortly after the conclusion of the Premier League season.

But in his first appearance for the Reds, fans pointed out a "frightening" attribute from the France U21 Defender.

There were moments when the 22-year-old was forced to track back and thwart the danger. On one occasion he stormed back to deny the Stuttgart forward from having a clean sight on goal.

His burst of pace and recovery had Liverpool fans in awe on social media.
