Michael Eavis reveals when he will quit running Glastonbury

The founder of Glastonbury Festival , Michael Eavis, has revealed a number of revelations including his favourite band and when he might be quitting.

Speaking at the Acoustic Stage today (June 28), Eavis added fuel to the fire that Fleetwood Mac play the festival very soon, with many hoping that actually means this year in a secret set.

Mr Eavis, 83, said he is "hoping" to see the band may play at the site soon.

However, he insisted he "can't afford" the band at the moment.

After taking a question about the rumour from the crowd, he said: "We're hoping for Fleetwood Mac right now. But when?

"I just can't afford them at the moment.

"Apparently they said publicly they want to do it and if they don't, they'll go to hell, those are their words, not mine."

Eavis also said he hoped to hold Glastonbury for at least the next 10 years.

He said: "I want to do another 10 years at least - because I enjoy it so much.

"I won't stop by choice but I will drop dead one day - we'll all die one day.

He told the crowd, this year's celebration "should really be the 50th" because all the new areas make it "the best we've ever done".

We think Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis was pretty happy to welcome the masses to Worthy Farm (PA)

"We couldn't do anymore next year, could we?" he teased the crowd.

He also told the tent what his favourite Glastonbury performance was.

He chose Marc Dolan, who replaced The Kinks at the first ever festival when they dropped out in 1970.

So it looks like Michael Eavis wants to see Fleetwood Mac at Glastonbury soon - the question is, when?
