Michael Dunlop shows remarkable powers of recovery following surgery

Michael Dunlop has once again displayed some incredible powers of recovery.

The Ballymoney road racer had surgery this week on injuries sustained during the past season.

Dunlop posted a picture on social media on Wednesday night showing him in a hospital bed with the message, “Just off the work bench sore but all went good”.

The 30-year-old crashed out of the Southern 100 back in July, leaving the 19-time TT winner with a reported broken pelvis and hip joint.

He then aggravated a wrist injury competing at Armoy where he won both Superbike races.

Dunlop also raced at the Ulster Grand Prix in August, with his most recent event being the Classic TT last month.

Despite the injuries, and subsequent surgery, it appears it is hard to keep a good man down.

On Friday Dunlop posted another picture, this time showing the road racing hero on an exercise bike.

Speaking last month, Dunlop admitted it was his "own stupidity" that resulted in him aggravating his injuries at Armoy.

“It’s just one of those things. What goes up must come down and when you’re my size it doesn’t help," he said.

“I damaged myself more at Armoy and it put me on the back foot because I broke my wrist and re-broke my arm. It’s my own stupidity really but that’s life and we’ll just keep at it.”
