Michael Duff signs extended contract with Cheltenham Town

Former Northern Ireland international Michael Duff has signed a new contract at Cheltenham Town.

Duff has agreed a deal that will see him remain in his managerial role until June 2023.

Cheltenham currently sit third in EFL League Two going into Saturday's clash with Forest Green Rovers.

Duff, who played for the Robins as well as Burnley, was named the League Two Manager of the Month in September.

Appointed in mid-September 2018, Duff took over a team that had recorded only two wins in its opening seven league games.

After a tricky start to his tenure he introduced a style and change of formation that saw him lead the team away from any threat of relegation.

Town chairman Andy Wilcox said: "To have Michael signing a contract until 2023 it is a fantastic deal for us.

"He's produced for the club since being here time and time again and we are looking forward to continue working with him and to keep moving the club forward."

Cheltenham are unbeaten in nine games and have lost once at home in the past 12 months, it is now 18 games since they were defeated at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Duff won 24 caps for Northern Ireland and helped Burnley win promotion to the Premier League before he retired and took up coaching and under-23s management roles at Burnley.

He then succeeded Gary Johnson as Cheltenham Town manager for his first senior management position in the Football League in September 2018.
