Michael Doyle sees red as Notts County's unbeaten run comes to an end at Dagenham

Ten-man Notts County saw captain Michael Doyle sent off as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at Dagenham.

The Magpies had started brightly and created chances in the first half  as Kristian Dennis forced a good save from  Elliott Justham and went close with a long-range effort.

Callum Roberts, making his debut, was also denied by a great save from the goalkeeper while, at the other end. Ross Fitzsimons had to be alert to keep out Luke Gordon’s shot.

But Dagenham found the breakthrough in the 61st minute when Alex Reid converted from a corner.

Notts’ afternoon then went from bad to worse when Doyle on a booking for  a foul on Sam Deering picked up another yellow after fouling the same player, a result of a poor pass from  Zoumana Bakayogo.

Reid then grabbed his second when Fitzsimons spilled a long range shot and he reacted quickest to guid into an empty net.

Wes Thomas almost put Notts back into the game when he met a cross at the near post but Justham made another fine save.

Notts continued to search for a way back into the game, but they could not find a way through the Daggers’ defence as they lost their nine-game unbeaten record.
