Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones sell in New York

Nov. 22--Move-up buyers Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have sold their rural estate in Bedford, N.Y., for $7.5 million.

A long driveway leads to the Colonial-style painted-brick two-story, which sits on 5.7 acres and is surrounded on three sides by horse farm.

Built in the 1930s, the home was renovated last year to include an expansive master suite closet, a gym and a center-island kitchen. The 6,600 square feet of living space has a center hall with a sweeping staircase, a dining room with a bay window, six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

There's also a recently built guesthouse with a kitchen, living room and a bedroom with a bathroom.

Gardens, a greenhouse, a swimming pool and a spa are among outdoor amenities.

Douglas, 70, has won Oscars for producing "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975) and acting for "Wall Street" (1987). He starred this year in "And So It Goes" and "The Reach."

Zeta-Jones, 45, won a supporting actress Oscar for the film version of "Chicago" (2002) and a Tony for the lead in "A Little Night Music." She will be in the upcoming movies "Dad's Army" and "The Godmother."

The couple bought the property in 2010 for $5.075 million and had listed it for sale at $8.1 million.

They sold two weeks after buying a grander property nearby for $11.25 million. That nearly 15,000-square-foot house sits on more than 13 acres. It has eight bedrooms and 18 bathrooms.
