Michael Dawson heaped praise on Nuno Espirito Santo and his Tottenham Hotspur side after their remarkable 1-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.
Son Heung-min was the difference maker as he curled home a delightful left-footed strike just after half-time to earn a stunning win over many people's title favourites.
There was also a return for a full capacity crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as over 60,000 fans watched what was a cracker in Espirito Santo's first Spurs game in charge.
Despite only being appointed in late June, Dawson was quick to laud the ex-Wolves boss and the team for coming together to give the supporters a much-needed boost.
Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, the former Spurs defender said: "You talk about being united before the game, everything has been going on during pre-season.
"Nuno has come in and tried to put his stamp on this team and the fans in here have been absolutely electric.
"This is what the fans needed at the start of this season, they needed to start like this, they needed togetherness and they have certainly got it."
It has been a difficult summer for Spurs who have been in the midst of a transfer conundrum as Harry Kane continues to be linked with a move away from the club.
However, Esprito Santo has managed to add quality to the squad with the likes of Bryan Gil and Christian Romero joining from Sevilla and Atalanta.
Dawson continued to pay tribute to the Portuguese manager and believes that the positivity surrounding the team is all down to him.
"When he was first appointed you have to go back to when he was at Wolves, he got them promoted from the Championship and finished fantastic the following season," the 37-year-old said.
"Last season wasn’t as good, but now he has put his stamp on this team. Yes, he has come in late, but this result will only help him.
"There was negativity surrounding him, not just him but everything that was going on at the club. You can see the positivity surrounding the team and that is down to him."
Tottenham are next in action on Thursday as they make their Europa Conference League bow against Pacos De Ferreira, before making the trip to Espirito Santo's former club, Wolves, three days later.
