Michael Cuisance move praised as Leeds United old boy urges club to 'complete the jigsaw'

Noel Whelan says Leeds United's jigsaw will be completed if they can land deals for Michael Cuisance, Todd Cantwell and a winger.

The Whites are closing in on Bayern Munich midfielder Cuisance, with the European champions reportedly giving permission for the 21-year-old to discuss personal terms.

It is a significant boost to Leeds but Whelan believes there is still work to be done in the transfer market.

Todd Cantwell was linked with a move to Elland Road last week and was left out of the Norwich City side that lost to Bournemouth at the weekend.

Leeds are also keen on a winger, with Manchester United's Daniel James another name in the frame.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said that three signings in the final week of the transfer window should suit the Whites nicely.

The former Leeds striker is excited by the prospect of Cuisance but believes Cantwell and a winger on loan will also be important additions to the squad.

He said: "Anybody that comes from Bayern Munich will have been bred well.

"He will have that expertise of passing, the right kind of attitude and that professionalism that you expect from top players and at 21 years old he is also of the right age.

"We need more strength in depth through that middle area and if we can get the Cuisance deal over the line, along with Cantwell and perhaps a winger on loan – that would complete the jigsaw."
