Michael Conlan won't fight on Katie Taylor v Amanda Serrano card but Eddie Hearn makes Irish promise

Eddie Hearn has confirmed that Michael Conlan will not fight on the same card as Katie Taylor's massive showdown with Amanda Serrano.

The Bray fighter looks set to finally face the Puerto Rican next year after taking her professional record to 20-0 with a win over Firuza Sharipova on Saturday night.

Taylor was pushed all the way by the Kazakhstani fighter in Liverpool, but won via unanimous decision with the three judges scoring the bout 98-92, 97-92, 96-93.

There had been suggestions that Conlan could fight on the same card as Taylor v Serrano at Madison Square Garden after Matchroom won the purse for his featherweight title fight against Leigh Wood, but Hearn has ruled that out.

When asked about Conlan fighting on the same card at Saturday night's post-fight press conference, the promoter said: "No. That will be a separate card but there'll be a strong Irish feel to it as well and Puerto Rico as well.

"She's [Serrano] got a good following. She's made a lot of history as well so I think there's a great set of fans there - the Irish and the Puerto Ricans and both with big populations in New York."

It is understood that Conlan could now face Wood for the WBA world featherweight title in England next March or April.
