Michael Conlan shares injury news after TJ Doheny victory

Michael Conlan has revealed that he fought half of last week's fight with TJ Doheny carrying an injury.

Conlan outclassed Doheny at Falls Park to win the WBA interim world featherweight title.

It was a dominant performance from the Belfast boxer who stretched his unbeaten record to 16-0.

Conlan floored Doheny with a punishing body shot in the fifth, and it appears he may also have picked up a hamstring injury in the same round.

The 29-year-old revealed he has had a scan which showed up a grade two tear.

Conlan shared the news while on holiday with his family.

He tweeted: "No running on holiday for me, got a scan yesterday and it seems I’ve suffered a grade 2 tear on my hamstring from the fight, I remember it happening around round 5! Anyway happy Thursday folks."

Conlan is now targeting a world title shot against the winner of Stephen Fulton vs Brandon Figueroa who fight next month.

Fulton holds the WBO world super-bantamweight title, while Figueroa is the WBA Super and WBC champion.
