Michael Conlan asks for Olympic medal as Rio investigation results leaked

Michael Conlan has asked the Olympics to post him a medal after investigation results looking into the 2016 games in Rio were leaked.

The Irish fighter was knocked out of the games at the hands of Russia's Vladimir Nikitin and a report suggests the fight may have been subject to 'bout manipulation'.

The Guardian are reporting that a major investigation looking into boxing at the games suggest that between seven and 10 fights may be subject to 'bout manipulation' with Conlan's shock loss among them.

More results are expected on Thursday from the investigation that was conducted by Prof Richard McClaren and the Guardian have been told there is 'no doubt' certain bouts were corrupted.

And upon hearing the news, Conlan has asked the Olympics to send him a medal.

He took to Twitter to say: "Wow, shock horror!@Olympics can you post me my medal now"

An emotional Conlan pulled no punches after the bout in Rio, saying: "My dreams have been shattered now. Do you know what? I’ve a big career ahead of me. And these ones?

"They’re known for being cheats and they’ll always be cheats. Amateur boxing stinks from the core right to the top."

Conlan has since embarked on a successful professional career and is currently 16-0.
