Michael Cohen warns Americans to vote now or risk 'another six years of this craziness'

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer who recently pleaded guilty to a slew of federal charges, urged Americans to get out to and vote or risk another "six years of this craziness."

The comments were the latest indicator of Cohen's sharp split with Trump. Though he did not mention Trump by name, he clearly referenced the presidency.

"Listen, here's my recommendation," he told CNN on Friday outside of his home. "Grab your family, grab your friends, grab your neighbours, and get to the poll, because if not, you are going to have another two or another six years of this craziness."

Last week, Cohen changed his political registration back to the Democratic Party after a brief stint as a Republican during Trump's march to the White House.

Cohen's defense lawyer, Lanny Davis, made the announcement on Twitter, saying that it was an effort on Cohen's part to distance "himself from the values of" the current administration.

When he changed his registration to Republican in 2017, Cohen said, "It took a great man to get me to the make the switch."

Cohen pleaded guilty in August to federal charges of tax evasion, bank fraud and campaign violations. He told a court that Trump had directed him to pay two women in the midst of the 2016 presidential campaign to keep silent about affairs they claim to have had with Trump.

Cohen is one of a couple of former Trump associates who have broken with the president in recent months; former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman is another.

According to CNN, Cohen is now willing to be vocal to campaign for Democrats, but his utility would be far from clear because of his recent convictions.
