A personal lawyer for President Donald Trump has resigned from his position as Mr Trump shakes-up his legal team to push back against special counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation.
John Dowd's resignation was confirmed to multiple news outlets, and follows repeated clashes between him and the president in recent weeks. In one incident, the two disagreed strongly about how to proceed with their legal strategy.
Sources told the Washington Post that Mr Dowd's departure was largely a mutual decision between him and Mr Trump. The president reportedly lost confidence in Mr Dowd's ability to deal with Mr Mueller's probe during the clashes that have played out in recent weeks. Mr Dowd had reportedly become frustrated with Mr Trump's interest in bringing on new attorneys to the team.
