Michael Cohen reportedly wanted to run for NYC mayor after Trump's victory

NEW YORK _ Michael Cohen once dreamed about being more than President Donald Trump's troubled fixer and legal pit bull. He wanted to be Hizzoner.

Long before he felt the weight of a federal fraud probe, Cohen, riding the high of Trump's 2016 election night win, expressed a desire to run for mayor of New York City, according to an Axios report Sunday.

"This is the beginning of a dynasty," Cohen told pals during an intimate gathering at Trump Tower campaign headquarters.

Looking to Trump's surprise White House victory for inspiration, he told the crowd, "Nobody's going to be able to f--- with us now."

Many in the room, including one person who shared Cohen's remarks with the news site, assumed the attorney's use of "dynasty" suggested Trump's adult children could seek political office next with little opposition.

But he was talking about himself, the source said.

"I think I'm going to run for mayor," Cohen added, according to the report.

He reportedly sought advice for a November 2017 campaign bid but never went through with the idea.

Instead, Cohen became a player in the president's sex scandal and a federal investigation into whether he broke campaign finance laws by paying porn star Stormy Daniels $130,000 days before his election day pitch.

When reached by Axios, Cohen said he believes the New York City mayor is "doing a fine job."
