President Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen is expected to enter into a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller for making false statements to congressional investigators about his contacts with Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign, reports ABC News.
The big picture: This is the first time that Cohen, who pleaded guilty in the Southern District of New York in August to campaign finance violations, has been charged in the Mueller investigation. The AP reports that Cohen lied to Congress about a Trump real estate project in Russia. He has reportedly spent more than 70 hours in interviews with the special counsel.
- Per CNN, Cohen told congressional investigators that he had stopped working on a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow in January 2016. He has admitted that he had discussions about the deal as late as August 2017.
