Michael Carrick has revealed that Manchester United's Luke Shaw 'wasn't quite right' to play against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
Shaw sustained a concussion in the Manchester derby and he was subsequently forced to pull out of the England squad.
The left-back started in United's defeat against Watford, but he was substituted off in that match. Shaw's absence has given Alex Telles the opportunity to start under caretaker boss Carrick, who named the Brazilian in his starting line-up at Chelsea once again.
Carrick spoke ahead of Sunday's game away at Stamford Bridge to explain his team selection and to give an update on Shaw.
"I’ve got great options, it’s a terrific squad to pick from," Carrick told MUTV.
"There are a few little tweaks and changes from the other night, the boys that have come out the team have been terrific around the group, fantastic in and around the changing room.
"As the other boys were the other night. It’s a real team effort and we’re looking forward to the game today. Luke [Shaw] obviously had the bang on the head and we were assessing and he just wasn’t quite right, he didn’t get fit back in time for the game
"It’s unfortunate for Luke."
