Michael Buble invites young audience member to sing with him during Liverpool show

Michael Buble made a young girl’s dream come true when he invited her to sing with him during his show in Liverpool last night.

The global superstar who has sold 30 million records worldwide stopped midway through his performance to speak to ‘Savannah’ who nervously joined in with a brief version of his hit ‘Everything’.

At first, the young girl was too nervous to sing, as he put down the microphone. But with some encouragement from her idol, she managed to sing ‘You’re everything’ with Buble in front of a packed audience at the M&S Bank Arena .

It was one of a series of standout moments in Buble’s two hour show, which also saw him get the whole audience joining in a mass singalong to The Beatles’ Hey Jude. During another song, Buble grabbed the phone of audience member who was Facetiming a friend, which he then held up so everyone could see them on the big screen.

In parts, the night felt as much like seeing stand up comedian as a singer, with Buble talking about the trials and tribulations of parenthood.

“My daughter is five, which means I’ve seen that movie [Frozen] 50,000 goddamn times”, he told the audience, before breaking into a flawless version of Love Is An Open Door, from the film, complete with robot dance moves.

He also made rude jokes about vegans, and his wife - who we were told wasn’t impressed with the beautiful woman who stars alongside him in his latest video.

There were touching moments too, when Buble spoke of his son, who has battled cancer, and how it has given him a new perspective on life.

But of course, the highlight of the night was the music. The evening was his 95th show of his current tour and the first of two nights in Liverpool, with him returning to the stage tonight.

Now spoiler alert, if you’re expecting it to be all about Christmas it’s really not. In fact it was half an hour before he even dropped the C bomb and he only sang two festive tunes all night, because yes there was a time when Buble wasn’t known as the man who crawls out of his cave in time for Christmas.

The night was filled with fun, with Buble skidding around the stage like an over excited five year old at a wedding.

His voice was note perfect throughout and his band were sensational as together they belted out his back catalogue, which he is first to admit is mostly covers, “I’m basically just up here doing karaoke”.

A brooding version of My Funny Valentine and an epic Cry Me A River amongst the highlights. He showcased some of his newer songs too, including the touching Forever Now, which anyone with children can relate to all too well to  - ‘I tuck you in at night. Another day has passed. Every week goes by a little faster than the last’.

A festive song, followed by big singalong to You Are Always On My Mind ended the show perfectly and everyone left wishing they could watch it all over again. If you’re going tonight, you’re in for a real treat.
