Michael Buble dedicates whole Newcastle show to one man in Utilita Arena crowd

One Michael Buble fan received a massive honour in Newcastle on Monday night, when the Canadian singer dedicated the whole of his concert to him.

Having whipped his Chester-le-Street crowd into a frenzy with an al fresco concert at the Riverside Ground last summer, suave showman Michael was back in the North East an d back indoors to kick off the first of a two night run at the Utilita Arena on his Higher tour.

With a second night added due to 'exceptional demand' the pressure was on for the It's A Beautiful Day star to get the ball rolling in style and, while he was slightly late in doing so, he had the audience captivated hook, line and sinker from the moment he launched intro timeless anthem Feeling Good.

From then on in it was charm and swagger in abundance as Michael kept his fans entertained with some well delivered covers like Sway, When You're Smiling and the emphatic Cry Me A River and ear wormingly infectious originals including Haven't Met You Yet and I'll Never Not Love You.

As well as being the consummate showman with his singing, Michael also took plenty of time to further ingratiate himself with the Geordie faithful by talking about his love for Newcastle and its people.

And, after talking about his 'amazing' encounter with some drunken revellers in the city on Bank Holiday Sunday, Michael sent the front section of the arena audience into a near meltdown with his first towel throw of the night and was left mightily impressed by the catching skills of a guy by the name of James.

After giving him another chance to catch one to make sure his expert grab the first time round wasn't a fluke and with the eyes of the arena on him, Michael joked: "I thought you going to pass it to the lady next to you...but no....and I actually love you more for that!"

Michael then got ready to launch into the next song on his setlist, initially saying he was going to dedicate it to James, before quickly changing his mind and saying the whole rest of the gig would be in his honour.

There was a real treat for James and all the other Buble lovers in the Toon on Monday as Michael delivered a sensational tribute to Elvis Presley with a medley of (If You're Looking For) Trouble, All Shook Up and CAn't Help Falling in Love, which ended with a next level confetti explosion which seemed never ending.
