Tommy Fury is doing everything right in the early stages of his boxing career and is predicted to have another great performance this weekend by UFC great Michael Bisping.
The Manchester fighter is set for his debut in the United States with a clash against Anthony Taylor, which is on the undercard of Jake Paul's bout with Tyron Woodley in Cleveland, Ohio.
Fury's fledgling career has so far yielded six victories from six, with four knock-outs, and Bisping believes the progress he has made so far is a solid start to his ventures in the ring.
“It’s early in his career, he’s 6-0. There’s a lot of headlines for this one but you’ve got to step up at some point," he told MEN Sport.
"So far at 6-0, I think he’s had four knockouts. He’s progressing nicely in his career, so there’s no reason why he’s not going to go out there and have great success.
"I know he trains hard, he obviously takes a lot of inspiration from Tyson and the success that he’s had, being a champion of the world, having the world at your feet.
"Just to be around that is very inspiring, so Tommy has all the motivation that he needs, regardless of where the fight is and who the opponent is, because he wants to replicate what Tyson has. I actually think he’s going to have a great performance on Sunday night.”
Tommy has plenty to do to live up to his brother's exploits but, while it's too early to make any rash assessments, Bisping believes the early signs are promising.
"It’s six fights, it’s still very early in his boxing career, but it’s a great start. It’s too early to say where he’s going to go. Anyone who is worth their salt in boxing should be 6-0 at this stage.
"He’s getting a lot of attention early in his career for obvious reasons but there’s no reason he can’t go all the way. He’s got the right people around him, the right mindset, he pushes himself hard. It’s just far too soon, you can’t get ahead of yourself and start thinking about future championships or anything like that.
"At this stage in his career, it’s about gaining experience and working your way up the ladder one rung at a time. So far, he’s done a really good job.”
