Michael Bennett on Bill Belichick: “Nice to play for a coach that sees you as a human being”

Doug Pederson is a former professional football player and a coach that worked himself from the bottom, actually coaching in the high school ranks before becoming an NFL assistant. Pederson is known as a players coach, a guy who understands the athlete’s he’s coaching, so hopefully, these comments made by Michael Bennett were about Pete Carroll and not his most recent head coach.

The former Eagles defensive end was a late arrival to camp and while speaking to The Athletic, said that Belichick’s approach to his situation was the main reason he wanted to come to New England.

Bennett was traded away to the Patriots during the offseason after requesting a new contract or more money on his current deal. It appears his relationship with the Eagles ended on bad terms but it’s uncertain if Pederson played into the comments from the mercurial defensive end.
