Wolves have identified Michael Beale as their primary candidate to take over from Bruno Lage, less than a year on from him leaving his post as Rangers assistant.
The former Liverpool coach was Steven Gerrard's right-hand man at Ibrox when they won the Premiership in 2021 and was credited with a large amount of the tactical work undertaken. He left to join Aston Villa as number two last November but became his own man in the summer by taking the head coach role at English Championship side QPR.
Recent rumours have even suggested Beale for a potential return to Rangers as gaffer if Giovanni van Bronckhorst was to leave that position. But The Athletic now claim Wolves have him as their 'number one target' 'are expected to move quickly, with contact anticipated between Wolves and his current club Queens Park Rangers to discuss his potential release.' Contact between both parties hasn't yet been made though, it's stated.

Beale said of speculation this week: "I want there to be noise about QPR, our players, myself and the management team. I just don’t want the noise to break anything that we are building inside, because that is really exciting. I see the stuff about Wolves and that is a compliment to all at QPR.
“With the stuff about Rangers you have to be very careful about that. Giovanni van Bronckhorst has done a fantastic job in the time he has been there.
“He has won a cup and got to a Europa League final, so I am not talking about that. And I have no right to talk about the Wolves job because there has been no contact
