Michael Beale Rangers transfer update as he names four positions he would like to do business in

Michale Beale has named FOUR positions he would like to strengthen at Rangers as he opened up on his January recruitment drive.

Todd Cantwell has already arrived at Ibrox as his first signing since taking over the job as manager from Giovanni van Bronckhorst and he was handed an instant debut in the 2-0 Premiership with over St Johnstone yesterday with James Tavernier scoring from the spot before Glen Kamara added a second to seal the points.

There has been lots of talk about looking to bring in Morgan Whittaker from Swansea City and Nicolas Raskin from Standard Liege. As things stand nothing has materialised on that front in terms of arriving at the club although the Rangers boss admits there is loads happening in the background - without confirming any names.

He admits he would be delighted to get the deals he wants done in the next couple of days but concedes it may not be possible and then leave more work to be done in the summer. He maintained his unbeaten run as manager with the Ibrox triumph as he continues to put pressure on league leaders Celtic to get results, starting with later today against Dundee United.

Speaking on the transfer front, Beale said: “There’s loads of stuff going on in the background. If we get them done I’ll be delighted. We’re all aligned, I’m up to speed.

“If we don’t get the work done now, we’ll do more work in the summer. It’s got to be the right players. I would like us to add a midfielder to the squad that’s powerful and who can run.

“I would like to add another centre-half to the squad and I think we’ll be looking at the goalie situation in the summer as well as looking for another No 9.

“Are we going to get all that done in the next 48 hours or is there more time in the summer? No one wants to strengthen the squad more than Ross Wilson, more than the board, more than myself. It's in our interest to build a strong Rangers and strong squad and team than we have right now."
