Michael Beale or Sean Dyche to Rangers would 'surprise' Simon Jordan as talkSPORT host delivers view

Simon Jordan has cast doubt over Michael Beale or Sean Dyche taking the vacant Rangers job.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked by the Light Blues yesterday with results and performances over the last couple of months not up to the high standard expected from the board and supporters. A recent run of results including draws with Livingston and St Mirren and defeat at St Johnstone has left the Ibrox men trailing Celtic by nine points at the top.

The Dutchman was axed just days after his one year anniversary in the top job after replacing Steven Gerrard with the search for a new boss at Ibrox underway with the Scottish Premiership in cold storage with the World Cup finals in Qatar underway. The competitive action returns on December 15 with a new boss set to take the side into the game with Hibs.

Beale would prove a popular choice with fans and is reported to be interested in a return north of the border with QPR director of football Les Ferdinand admitting the English Championship club won't stand in his way.

However, talkSPORT pundit Jordan is not so sure either would take on the role. He said live on air: "I'd be surprised if Sean Dyche goes to Rangers, I think there's a lot of jeopardy in that job.

"Yeah it's a big job but there was a lot of arguments over how much money was spent after the season just gone and with getting to the final of the Europa League, and at the same time getting the Champions League money and not spending much of it on players.

"They are some way behind Celtic in terms of the performance of the Celtic team and Ange Postecoglou. So I think there's a risk.

"And I'd be surprised if Michael Beale goes there because why would he want to go to Rangers when he could have potentially gone to a Premier League club?

"Going to the career path that Michael Beale has alluded to and the ideas behind it, it would be a strange one not to want to go to a Premier League club in Wolverhampton Wanderers and yet still go to Rangers after the statements he's made at QPR."
