Michael Beale in Rangers transfer demand as Cantwell and Raskin have boss saying 'more like that please'

Michael Beale has pointed to Rangers recruitment of Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin and wants 'more of that'.

The Rangers boss managed to bring in the ex-Norwich City midfielder alongside the Standard Liege number six in the January window with both penning long-term deals at Ibrox. Cantwell and Raskin have both made their debuts and impressed Light Blues fans with supporters clamouring for both to start regularly now under Beale.

And while the English gaffer admitted he wanted more from the window, he did defer some transfer work until the summer window. Beale has hammered home that same message prior to his side's Scottish Cup outing with Raith Rovers as he heaped praise on the youngsters.

He said: "The squad is large at the minute, this summer gives us the chance to make some decisions to trim the squad and add competition.

"They're playing well [Raskin and Cantwell]. It's early in their Rangers careers. There's a lot of opinion 360 that will come their way but at the moment they're favouring good opinions.

"I would say to them enjoy it while it lasts...I'm pleased with both young men. They get on off the pitch as well, they've brought a nice energy into the building. When the transfer window opens, more like that please."

He added: "I think I can get more out of this Rangers squad right now, and also recruit quality into it during the summer.

"We have to recognise the moments we have been really good and the areas we need to improve. Every game at the moment we are evolving, we are working hard in training.

"You have seen it work well midweek, but also has been other moments it has been indifferent. We will continue to work hard and raise the standard."

Meanwhile Kemar Roofe has been dealt a huge blow by being ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing an operation. Beale said: "Kemar Roofe has had a minor hip operation and will also be back for pre-season.

"Tom Lawrence has had a minor operation and will be back at pre-season. We have one or two bumps but nothing major heading into the weekend. Ridvan [Yilmaz], [John] Souttar and [Leon] King are all available for selection.”
