Michael Beale eyes Rangers Chris Willock 'priority' transfer with raid on QPR

Michael Beale is eyeing a reunion with Chris Willock at Rangers with the attacker a 'priority target' according to a report.

The Daily Record claim the 25-year-old has made it clear to the English Championship club that he is eager to follow his old boss to Glasgow with his contract up at the end of the season. QPR have an option to trigger the deal for a further year but the Ibrox men hope to land him for free or for a bargain fee states the same report.

It's reported that Beale was back at his old club last week to watch his former player in action against Norwich City but he was on the bench for the match. He's the latest name to be linked with a move north this summer with a deal for goalkeeper Jack Butland 'on the brink' while Kieran Dowell from the Canaries has also been namechecked recently.

The Rangers boss is hoping to add at least five new faces as part of his summer overhaul at the club in his quest to catch Celtic. Todd Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin both arrived in January to kick off his new era at the club with a number of ins and outs expected this summer.

Big names like Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are out of contract in a matter of weeks alongside the likes of Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, Ryan Jack and Filip Helander.

Speaking about Willock last September after a game with Millwall, the former Loftus Road boss said: “He is an excellent player - look at his CV. We’re fortunate to have him at QPR. I think he can play at the next level, he just has to make little adjustments.”

A source close to QPR told the Record: “With a player this talent available at a cut down rate - or maybe even for free - it’s a no brainer for Michael. Chris would absolutely jump at the chance and the boy would light up Ibrox.”

Willock has scored six goals and laid on two assists in 27 games in all competitions this season.
