Michael Beale has bit back at a Rangers fan after a barbed dig about his Ibrox exit.
Beale joined Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister in leaving for Aston Villa last month with Gio van Bronckhorst and his coaching team rapidly drafted in to replace them.
The transition has been smooth with some even feeling Rangers look better for the change.
However, some fans still feel aggrieved that Gerrard and his team upped sticks and left midway through the season.
So when Beale posted a snap on Instagram about returning "home" to Glasgow to spend time with his family, it wasn't long before the loaded replies arrived.
Beale posted: "A quick visit home for a Xmas meal with the family."
And one comment from a Rangers fan soon read: "Bet you left halfway through dinner."
The Aston Villa coach was clearly aggrieved by the response and he was quick in hitting back, saying the fan in question "doesn't have a clue" while pointing to the good work Gerrard and his team did at Ibrox.
He bit back: "No mate. Left after one league defeat in 52 and an invincible season.
"Signing players for free or 50k or from League One that are now worth millions.
"All about opinions though isn't it mate? Have a good Xmas - you don't have a clue what went on."
There was a warmer response from current Ibrox sporting director Ross Wilson, however, who wrote: "Brilliant mate!"
