Michael Barrymore forced to pull out of Dancing on Ice at last minute

Michael Barrymore has been forced to pull out of Dancing on Ice at the last minute.

The former Strike It Lucky and Celebrity Big Brother star was due to make his TV comeback on the show.

But he shared the sad news he had to leave the competition to his Instagram today after breaking his wrist.

In a post Michael said: "Took a nasty fall on the ice last Friday during rehearsals and sadly broke my left wrist.

"Absolutely devastated to hear that I can’t go on back on the ice for a while.

"Really enjoyed every single moment of being part of the terrific show and working with all the incredibly talented people involved x"

Gemma Collins also shared the news on This Morning, and said she'd only seen him last week as she filmed the Dancing On Ice Christmas special.

Gemma said: "I am absolutely gutted for him, this was meant to be his big comeback, but maybe now just wasn't the right time."

A replacement will now be drafted in to take Michael's place from the reserve list.

The rumoured replacement is Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya - according to Eamonn on This Morning.

The other contestants taking part are: Caprice Bourret, Trisha Goddard, Ben Hanlin, Joe Swash, Libby Clegg, Perri Kiely, Lisa George, Ian 'H' Watkins, Lucrezia Millarini, Kevin Kilbane and Maura Higgins.

This year sees John Barrowman join the judging panel, replacing Jason Gardiner, alongside Jane Torvill, Christopher Dean and Ashley Banjo.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby will return to present the show.
