Mouse infestation in Swansea grocery store sees it closed immediately

A Swansea grocery store has been shut down by officers at Swansea Council due to a mice infestation.

M&H Supermarket in Mayhill was immediately closed on order of the local authority for public safety after a visit by officers.

The owners of the store, which sold food and beverages among other products, have been told to make improvements in order to raise hygiene standards on site before it can reopen.

The emergency notice was served after the council received a complaint about the business and sent people to investigate.

A spokesman for Swansea Council said: "Officers visited the business following a complaint.

"The presence of a mice infestation prompted the council to take immediate action to protect the health and safety of consumers purchasing goods at the business.

"An emergency prohibition notice was served requiring immediate closure of the business.

"The owners will now be required to carry out improvements to raise the hygiene standards at the premises before it can reopen."
