Micah Richards sends Arsenal strong transfer message as Chelsea line up €60m bid for striker

Micah Richards believes Arsenal may have found themselves a "gem" in Alexander Isak as the Sweden international continues to impress at the European Championships.

According to The Athletic, the Gunners are keeping tabs on the Real Sociedad striker after an impressive season in La Liga.

As well as this, London rivals Chelsea have been credited with holding an interest in the 21-year-old forward. El Gol Digital are reporting that the Blues could be set to offer around €60million for the Sociedad star.

Isak has caught the eye at the Euros for Sweden, despite not opening his scoring account at the international tournament.

The striker impressed in his country's goalless draw with Spain on the opening match day and continued his form in the 1-0 win against Slovakia on Friday afternoon.

Following Sweden's first victory, Richards heaped praise on the reported Arsenal and Chelsea target.

"He can do it in the Premier League. He's been linked with Arsenal as well, so who knows - they might have found a gem there," the former Manchester City defender said on BBC One.

Rio Ferdinand recently shared a similar view to Richards, where he offered his honest verdict on his performance against Spain earlier in the week.

"This kid, Isak, he was a problem today for the defenders in the Spain team," the former Manchester United centre-back said on BBC's coverage of the draw on Monday.

"He was a nuisance. He showed today why he's got Young Player of the Year in La Liga. He was the outlet.

"We were surprised, really, when he got brought off - he must be thinking about the coming games or something like that."

The Gunners and the Blues have both been heavily linked with a move for a new centre-forward this summer, with the latter reportedly chasing Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland.

But Isak could be a cheaper option for Chelsea, who struggled in front of goal last season despite their outstanding 2020/21 campaign.

Meanwhile, Arsenal, who are set for a huge squad overhaul this summer, have also been credited with interest in a new striker - with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette both being linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
