Micah Richards rants to make Harry Kane claim: "I don't know how he sleeps at night"

Micah Richards claims that he doesn't know how Harry Kane "sleeps at night" because of not yet winning a trophy in his career.

Kane, 29, moved up to second in the all-time Premier League goalscoring charts on Saturday by bagging the crucial strike in Tottenham 's 1-0 win at home to Crystal Palace. With his 209th goal in English top-flight football, the Spurs talisman - playing under his third manager of the season at club level - rose above the turbulence to go clear of Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney.

Despite his goalscoring heroics, though, critics say that Kane should leave Tottenham in pursuit of his first-ever team honour. United are working on a potential deal ahead of the summer transfer window but face a £100million asking price. Richards is among those suggesting that the England captain would be better off elsewhere, going on an impassioned rant in the wake of Kane's latest feat.

"He's just amazing," the ex- Manchester City defender, who won one Premier League title and FA Cup in his playing days, began on Sky Sports. "With all the noise around Spurs and what they've tried to do, the fans and what football they wanna play, Harry Kane's remained focused on what he's needed to do, and he does what he does best; he's scoring goals.

"But there's gonna come a time, especially in the summer, when he's going to have to make a decision. Who's the manager going to be there? What are their plans going forward? Because for a player with so much potential and quality to have not won anything, I don't know how he sleeps at night.

"He's an unbelievable talent and he's got nothing to show for it, just apart from the goals. Some people would just take the goals, obviously he's a Spurs legend already and what he's done is absolutely incredible. But, at the end of your career, you want a trophy."

Former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp then weighed in with his take, referencing the fact that Kane is out of contract in June 2024 and currently on course to leave via a free transfer. "It's gonna be a huge summer," Redknapp began.

"If you look at two of the biggest clubs in the Premier League: Manchester United, they struggle without a striker, they need that killer in front of goal... and Chelsea are crying out for someone who scores goals. If [ex-Spurs boss Mauricio] Pochettino were to go there, the first player he's gonna want is obviously someone like Harry Kane, so it will be fascinating to see how it plays out.

"Spurs, with a player with one year on their contract, will they try to hold out? Maybe. Or they might try to cash in on a player who's still got some value because obviously he'll go as a free agent next summer. So we will see, it'll be very interesting... Harry Kane's importance to Spurs, you can't put a price on it."
