Micah Richards praises Arsenal's potential Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang successor as Barcelona lurk

Welcome to The Arsenal Way daily round-up where we take a look at some of the best Arsenal stories that you might have missed.

Micah Richards has pleaded for Arsenal to sign Dusan Vlahvoic, with who the club have been heavily linked with.

After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's recent omission from the squad, Barcelona could be a destination for him on a potential loan move.

Fiorentina are set to sign Lucas Torriera on a permanent transfer, following the Uruguayan's recent success during his spell with the club this season.

Richards names Aubameyang successor

Micah Richards has sung the praises for Arsenal transfer target, Dusan Vlahovic on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I have watched him a couple of times now. He is lightning. It’s ridiculous. He has got 16 in 18 this season. His left foot is like a wand.”

The former Man City defender, who also played for Fiorentina, added: “I am telling you now, he is everything, he is everything you need.”

Vlahovic has caught the attention of Arsenal and a few other Premier League clubs this season due to his successful exploits in the Serie A, where his 33 goals in the calendar year is a league record.

Our View: This would be a great signing for Arsenal, but the competition for his signature seems to grow tougher week by week, so the Gunners will need a top-four finish for a realistic chance of signing him.

Xavi eyes Aubameyang loan

Barcelona are monitoring Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s situation at Arsenal and are considering an attempt to sign him on loan next month, the Mail reports.

The former Arsenal captain has been left out of the last three matchday squads due to his disciplinary issues, which also resulted in him losing the club captaincy.

He is currently training alone and is unlikely to play before he ventures off to the Africa Cup of Nations for Gabon.

Sergio Aguero recently announced his retirement from football, meaning Barcelona need a replacement in attack, and Aubameyang seems to fit that profile.

Our View: A loan move would not suit Arsenal, due to Aubameyang only having 18 months left on his contract. If they are to offload him, it needs to be a permanent transfer to generate as many funds as possible.

Torreira nearing exit door

Fiorentina have finally come to the decision to sign Lucas Torreira on a permanent transfer, according to Italian journalist Nicola Schira.

The Serie A side has negotiated a £13 million fee with the Gunners, and activating that option in January or at the end of the season will suit all parties.

Torreira has impressed away on loan this season and is enjoying life in Italy, much more than his difficult loan spell at Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Our View: This is a deal that looks certain to happen, and will raise good funds for Arsenal to spend on another midfielder which is definitely a position that requires strengthening.
