Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has blamed a lack of goal threat for their opening day defeat to Tottenham.
City fell to a surprise defeat north London, as Heung-Min Son's goal was enough to earn Spurs all three points on the night.
It meant Pep Guardiola's side have failed to score and been defeated in each of their last three competitive games.
The reigning champions dominated the opening 15 minutes of the game, but struggled for a finishing touch in front of goal, failing to register a shot on target throughout the first half.
Even after they fell behind, City failed to sustain attacks and Spurs had a relatively easy job to see out the result and earn a big win in Nuno Espirito Santo's first game as manager — without City transfer target Harry Kane in their squad.
Speaking as a pundit on Sky Sports after the game, Richards praised Ferran Torres ' performance but said City were just lacking 'a potent killer' in front of goal.
"They were just missing that touch of class," he said.
"To be fair, I thought Ferran Torres did really well in terms of his work rate, he tried to run in behind, come short and hold the ball up. They are missing that potent killer in front of goal.
"I think it was more down to the way Spurs defended, I thought they were excellent at times and nullified the space. They started the game electric, quick out of the blocks.
"They were not good enough especially by their own standards. We all know how well they did last season but today they just did not get going. Looking at the first 15 minutes it could have been three, four or five nil but the second half was a lot worse.
"There are no excuses today, we were beaten by the better team. We mentioned it before, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all have done so well over the weekend so it’s a very disappointing start."
