Micah Richards jokes about links between Roy Keane and Celtic job

Micah Richards has joked about joining his Sky Sports colleague Roy Keane at Celtic, should the former Republic of Ireland captain get the vacant coaching job.

Neil Lennon resigned from his role as Hoops head coach last month, with Celtic well adrift of rivals and Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers.

‘Gers went on to seal their first top-flight title in 10 years this month, while Celtic appointed assistant coach John Kennedy as interim manager until the end of the season.

Former Manchester United midfielder Keane, who finished his playing career at Celtic in 2006 after a six-month spell with the club, is among the names in the running to take over the Hoops next term.

And fellow Sky Sports pundit Richards reacted to the rumours by taking to social media.

“I’ve just packed my bags!!!” the former Manchester City defender tweeted.

“Scotland here we come.”

Keane previously coached Sunderland and Ipswich, with his most recent coaching roles seeing the 49-year-old work as an assistant.

Keane spent five years as assistant coach with the Republic of Ireland between 2013 and 2018, briefly worked at Aston Villa in the same capacity in 2014, and did the same at his old club Nottingham Forest in 2019.
