Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has hailed Phil Foden as a 'superstar' following his latest eye-catching performance.
The England international netted the only goal of the game in the 1-0 victory over Brighton, which moved City four points off the top with a game in hand.
Foden 's return in the league this season now stands at four goals and two assists from 12 matches and he's closing in on 100 appearances for the club in all competitions.
Richards has regularly hailed the 20-year-old since his breakthrough at the club and has now doubled down on his assessment.
"Foden, I've talked about him many times. I think he's a superstar, I genuinely think he's one of the best English talents we've produced for a long time," he told Match of the Day.
"He's so comfortable on the ball, he can go right, he can go left. We mentioned David Silva, he's not going to replace him, but when he came in, he started off the left."
Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman elaborated on the last point, stating: "David Silva, when he came in, he didn't start straight away in the centre of midfield, he started in wider positions for Manchester City.
"He was dangerous coming in from the wide areas and he earned the trust of managers. We've all done it, us diminutive type of players, you earn the trust to go and play in the centre of midfield.
"Phil Foden, his stats are incredible. He has played a lot of football at Manchester City, even though people weren't sure he would get enough game time. He's now played 96 games with 23 goals, so his stats do measure up."
