Abdoulaye Doucoure's important Everton role explained and how it changed after Allan injury

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has heaped praise on Abdoulaye Doucoure after Everton's impressive 2-0 victory over Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Goals from Richarlison and Mason Holgate saw the Blues clinch all three points, though Carlo Ancelotti' s men did suffer a blow after losing Allan to a hamstring injury in the first half.

However, Doucoure 's performance caught the eye with the midfielder continuing to stand out and show his importance to the Blues following the Brazilian's enforced withdrawal in the first half.

And with Allan now set for a spell on the sidelines, Richards has highlighted how important Doucoure's role is to Everton when analysing their latest victory on Match of the Day.

“What a performance, he was everywhere today," Richards said. "He fully deserved Man of the Match, for me.

"It was intent from the first moment. He was offensive in the first-half before Allan went off, but when he did go off, he went into a defensive role to dictate the play.

"It’s a player that I would love to have in front of me because you know he’s gonna do all the doggy work. It’s not just making tackles, it’s being in the right position at the right time. He was absolutely everywhere on the pitch."
