Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards has said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deserves the chance to turn things around following the team’s 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
Liverpool arrived at Old Trafford in scintillating form and needed just five minutes to get ahead, going on to score four goals in the first half and another one after half-time.
Solskjaer headed into the clash under intense pressure after United had failed to win any of their last four Premier League games, losing three and drawing one.
And the manner of the defeat has led to more questions surrounding his future, although the Norwegian has found an unlikely ally in Richards.
The pundit believes that Solskjaer needs more time in the United hotseat as he tries to get this team back on track.
Asked if he was the right man to be in charge going forward, Richards replied on the BBC's Match of the Day 2 show: “With Ole it’s going to be difficult but I think we've got to give them a chance to show what he can do.
“This game was tough because it was Manchester United and Liverpool like Wrighty [Ian Wright] said, one of the biggest games and it's who they get.
“I'm not going to sit here and say a manager should go but they're not gonna get the same quality that as what Manchester City, Liverpool have.”
