Micah Richards criticises Ralf Rangnick's new system at Manchester United

Micah Richards has criticised Ralf Rangnick's new system at Manchester United.

Since arriving as the interim boss at Old Trafford, Rangnick has yet to suffer defeat while playing his coveted 4-2-2-2 formation.

But despite being unbeaten in his short time in charge, United have failed to set the world alight under the German.

Victories against Crystal Palace and Norwich City have done little to enamour pundits and supporters alike to his philosophy.

Manchester United managed to rescue a point late on against Newcastle on Monday night as Edinson Cavani cancelled out an Allan Saint-Maximin strike for the hosts.

Following the fixture, the former Manchester City defender criticised Rangnick's system on BBC's Match of the Day.

Richards commented: "They (Manchester United) were very sloppy.

"I think the new system, 4-2-2-2, it’s not quite working yet.

"The full-backs Dalot and Telles have to be in that position where they’re going to put quality into the box and they’re not really doing that."

United currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, seven points behind fourth-placed Arsenal having played two games less.

Rangnick's men return to Old Trafford tomorrow evening when they take on struggling Burnley.
