Micah Richards couldn't hide his embarrassment at watching Sergio Aguero miss a penalty against Chelsea.
City were already 1-0 up through Raheem Sterling when they were awarded a spot-kick shortly before half-time.
The Blues striker stepped up to take it knowing that converting it would put his side within touching distance of clinching the Premier League title.
But his weak attempt at a Panenka-style penalty dropped into the hands of grateful Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, and left Aguero sheepishly looking over to the bench, where manager Pep Guardiola was visibly annoyed.
At half-time, former City defender Micah Richards said from the Sky Sports studio: “I was cringing in here. I thought he was just going to slot it home.”
Fellow pundit Jamie Redknapp said: “He looks over at the manager, like a naughty boy at school looking to the teacher.
“I don’t know what he’s thinking. Just finish it.”
Sterling's goal had also seemed a little embarrassing for Aguero, whose poor first touch in front of goal teed up Sterling to snatch the goal from the Argentinian.
Richards said: “Aguero takes an awful touch, and Sterling nips in like a thief in the night and gets the goal.”
Redknapp added: “He bails him out. He looks like he’s (Aguero) not happy here, he’s saying to him ‘why are you touching it in?’
“He’s helped him out. It was such a bad touch. Sterling’s done great for him. He should be thanking him.
“If they’re arguing about that I’d be surprised.”
