Sky Sports pundits Micah Richards and Graeme Souness have heaped praise upon Manchester City's Bernardo Silva following his heroics against Manchester United.
The former Monaco ace was heavily-touted for a move away from the Etihad Stadium in the summer transfer window, though that didn't materialise.
While other players — including Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who was wanted by City — have struggled to find form following the transfer window when an exit was on the cards, the same hasn't been the case for Bernardo.
Richards has praised that attitude and his overall approach to the game, while identifying the role in which he believes he's best in, with Bernardo among the City stars to shine in the 2-0 derby win.
" I like him deeper because he's more involved in the game. The work rate as well he always starts the press so comfortable on the ball," he told Sky Sports.
"From someone who was supposed to leave in the summer to get his head down and show people what he can do. This season he has been absolutely outstanding.
"When I talk about the press — he goes in and gets everyone around him. He wants to look forward and anticipates where the ball is coming from."
Souness also heaped praise upon the Portugal international, stating he'd be a star in any team in world football.
"He’s an absolute dream of a player," he added.
"Any team in the world would take him in a heartbeat. He's top notch and has no flaws in his game.
"When you look at your players you know what you're getting from him he’s willing to put his foot in, he’ll press and have delivery. I just think he’s fabulous. I'd imagine he's a dream to work with."
