Micah Richards agrees with Roy Keane about Fred and Donny van de Beek

Roy Keane was far from happy in the aftermath of the Manchester derby on Saturday afternoon.

Having watched Manchester United limp to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City, the former Old Trafford captain launched a scathing attack on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his under-performing team — with midfielder Fred coming under the microscope.

In a heated analysis piece for Sky Sports, pundit Keane claimed that anyone who thinks the Brazilian midfielder is good enough to play for United is in 'cuckoo land'.

Fred has also been subject to widespread criticism from supporters over the last few months, reports The Manchester Evening News.

Ex-City player Micah Richards shared the Sky Sports studio with Keane on Saturday lunchtime, but while he didn't launch into his own tirade about Fred, he admits that he does agree with the Irishman and his verdict.

Richards also posed a question that United fans have been regularly asking since Donny van de Beek was signed for £35.1million from Ajax 14 months ago.

Speaking about Keane's rant on BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club, he said: "It was brilliant, wasn't it?

"He lost his temper, let's say, a little bit. No I was not provoking him!

"But he's right to a certain extent, though, isn't he? I mean how many times does he have to put in a performance that is not that great. I'm never going to be one of those pundits who slag off players.

"I'm never going to do it, it's not my way.

"You've got other options on the bench. It's making the same mistakes over and over and over again. Why not just give van de Beek a run out? Surely he can't do worse than that?

"I don't understand it with Man United. They've got such good players."
