Micah Richards admits he wanted Man City to sign Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

Former Man City star Micah Richards has admitted he wanted Cristiano Ronaldo to sign for the blue half of Manchester this summer, but doesn't think he's enough to give Manchester United enough for a top two finish.

Ronaldo was reportedly on the verge of joining City after deciding he wanted to leave Juventus during the summer, only for Manchester United to swoop in and complete a deal swiftly to bring him back to Old Trafford 12 years after he left the club.

Since returning he has scored four goals in three games, while City failed to sign a striker and have struggled to find a solid alternative for their starting striker position as Pep Guardiola continues to rotate between Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres.

But while speaking to Poet and Vuj during an episode of 'FIFA and Chill' on their YouTube channel, Richards admitted he would have loved City to sign a player of that quality, although he still thinks they will win the title without him.

"Oh yeah, of course I did [want Ronaldo to join City]. I'm not going to lie. If he was going to come, come on. Anyone who says they didn't want him at City is just lying. Why would you not want a player of that quality?

"They could do [win the league].. but I don't think they will. I think Chelsea are a little bit stronger. I don't think they'll win the league, I just think they'll do better than Man United. I still think City will win the league. They won the league by 12 points last season, you're talking like I'm talking Japanese or something."
