Micah Downey, the 26-year-old American star of the Australian reality series "Bride and Prejudice," died suddenly last week.
No cause of death was revealed.
His passing was confirmed on an Instagram post by his former fiancee, Milly Johnson.
"It is so sad and unbelievably surreal that I am making this post," wrote Johnson, who recently announced she was carrying Downey's second child. "I am struggling to put into words how sad and heartbreaking this is. I just hope he is at peace wherever he is and that he will always be watching over his babies."
They have a son named Julian and a second on the way.
"Bride and Prejudice" chronicles couples set to get hitched but who must cope with disapproving families.
The show followed Downey and Johnson's relationship as they tried to sway her mother into supporting them, according to Seven News.
In November, Johnson, 23, posted an announcement that she and Downey had broken up during filming shortly before their wedding.
"Leading up to the decision I made, I felt sick, heartache, deep sadness and then I just felt numb," wrote Johnson on Instagram. "Breaking up with someone is awful and also a very private moment. In our case, it was done with many eyes on us on national television. Not easy."
After their breakup, Downey moved back to the U.S.
