Miami still has endless options to upgrade the offensive line

You know what they say about patience and it being a virtue. And while it’s true, Miami Dolphins fans are perfectly justified if they’re frustrated by Miami’s mediocre play along the offensive line for years. It’s time for things to get better, because they can’t honestly get much worse.

Yet with a new coaching staff, what has Miami done to upgrade their offensive line to this point? They let Ja’Wuan James walk in free agency and cut Josh Sitton. Solid.

But it isn’t time to panic yet. The Dolphins have made it clear that 2019 is a foundational year — the team needs to build this team up from the inside, out. But with only one pick in each of the first four rounds of the 2019 NFL Draft, what kind of overhaul can the Dolphins provide with so many other needs on the roster?

A significant one. Just not necessarily with a ton of draft picks. Looking through the current free agent market, there’s a plethora of offensive linemen who would be upgrades here in Miami.

The Dolphins have been patient as to avoid overfilling their cup and negating their looming 2020 third round compensatory pick. When the compensatory pick window closes, look for Miami to target several names to help solidify the offensive line.

We’ll get a chance to see who the team chooses to prioritize in the 2019 Draft first, but Miami will have plenty of choices to flesh out the rest of the unit with cheap veterans or high upside 20-somethings.
