Miami’s pre-draft interviews prove that no position is safe

The Miami Dolphins are in the infancy of a new era. With a new head coach, no quarterback and a stripped-down roster, the Dolphins can essentially attack their roster construction any way they please.

And if Miami’s recent pre-draft visits are any indication, the team’s preferred method of choice is “no one is safe.” If there were a position group on this team that fans could generally say was set for 2019, it is the linebacker group. Veteran Kiko Alonso returns in 2019, as do former Ohio State Buckeyes Raekwon McMillan and Jerome Baker.

Alonso was quite good for Miami in 2017, but struggled in space at times last season. Yet he’s still a viable starting linebacker and McMillan and Baker both took strong steps forward over the course of 2018.

Regardless, the Dolphins continue to swing linebackers through the team facility for pre-draft visits. First, Terrill Hanks of New Mexico State. Then Jahlani Tavai of Hawaii. Now, Sione Takitaki of Brigham Young.

Regardless of the position you play, no job is safe on this Dolphins team. Now, the Dolphins could very easily be doing their due diligence for depth purposes. But even if that is the case, it further reiterates where Miami’s brass thinks this team needs to get better … everywhere.

They’re not wrong, either.
