Miami rises four spots to No. 10 in AP Top 25

After four straight wins to start the season, including two on the road, Miami is a top 10 team.

Miami, which has been steadily climbing in both major college football polls, rose four spots to take the No. 10 spot in the AP Top 25 on Sunday after its 35-21 win over Georgia Tech.

It's the first time the Hurricanes have been ranked in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 since 2013, when Miami started the season 7-0 and grabbed the No. 7 spot in the poll for two weeks before a loss to rival Florida State knocked them down to No. 14 the week of Nov. 3.

Now Miami, again, faces the challenge of holding on to its top 10 ranking after a matchup with FSU.

The Seminoles, who fell to No. 23 in the AP Top 25 after their loss to North Carolina this past weekend, will travel to Hard Rock Stadium this Saturday for their annual showdown against Miami.

The game, scheduled for an 8 p.m. kick on ABC, will be yet another chance for the Hurricanes to show the nation they are a changed program since the arrival of coach Mark Richt.

The Seminoles won't be the only ranked opponent Miami will face this month.

The Tar Heels, unranked last week, are now No. 17 after their 37-35 win over FSU, and will travel to Hard Rock Stadium on Oct. 15. Meanwhile, Miami will visit No. 25 Virginia Tech on Oct. 20.

With Virginia Tech and North Carolina moving into poll, the ACC now has six teams ranked in the AP Top 25: Clemson at No. 3, Louisville at No. 7, Miami at No. 10, the Tar Heels at 17, Florida State at No. 23 and Virginia Tech at No. 25.

It's the first time the conference has had six teams ranked since 2006.
