Miami police say he told them 'I just killed my girlfriend and now she is my ex-girlfriend'

MIAMI _ A man approached a Miami police officer working off-duty Saturday morning at Marlins Park and asked to be taken home. Then to jail.

Landy Gutierrez, 22, told the cop: "I just killed my girlfriend and now she is my ex-girlfriend."

Police say Gutierrez not only gave them consent to search his backpack, where they found a knife flecked with what appeared to be blood and flesh, but directed them to 740 NW 17th Ave. In that two-bedroom, one-bathroom house, a three-minute walk from the ballpark gates, police found Lizette Roman, 28, dead from multiple stab wounds.

Gutierrez, 22, has been charged with second-degree murder and carrying a concealed firearm. He's in Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center held without bond.
