The Miami Dolphins have added yet another contender to their looming offensive line battle in training camp. The Dolphins, who have tinkered significantly to their offensive line one year after making heavy investments into the group, are expecting a competitive training camp between several contenders for starting roles and, alternatively, several contenders for depth spots on the roster.
The latest addition? Veteran tackle Timon Parris, who logged his playing time in the NFL with the Washington Football Team but has also been a member of the Cleveland Browns and Atlanta Falcons organizations.
Parris will face an uphill battle to make the team — as the Dolphins have tackles Austin Jackson, DJ Fluker, rookies Liam Eichenberg and Larnel Coleman and veteran Jesse Davis on the roster already. Add in the team’s experience with 2020 2nd-round pick Robert Hunt manning the right tackle role last season and the Dolphins will have a slew of options to stick at tackle and the team will also be able to boast positional versatility up front, which may make finding a home for Parris on the final roster even more challenging.
But as the saying goes, a rising tide raises all ships. And the Dolphins are looking to host the most competitive training camp they can at all positions across the team. So while Parris is facing a challenge to make the roster, he’ll push the team’s 7th-round draft choice in Coleman and an expensive veteran in Jesse Davis and make their paths to the final roster more challenging, too.
