Miami Dolphins rookies assigned jersey numbers

The old saying states that “you have to look good to play good”. Any athlete knows that part of looking good is having that perfect number on your jersey. And so yesterday was a bit of a thriller for the 2019 rookie class for the Miami Dolphins — not only did rookie minicamp open, the rookies had their jersey numbers announced.

Some change was inevitable — Christian Wilkins’ college number, 42, isn’t a number currently eligible for defensive tackles. The result? A new chapter for a new level of competition.

Here are the numbers assigned to each of Miami’s 2019 NFL Draft selections:

  • DL Christian Wilkins – 97
  • OL Michael Deiter – 63
  • LB Andrew Van Ginkel – 43
  • OT Isaiah Prince – 79
  • FB Chandler Cox – 38
  • RB Myles Gaskin – 37

Those with new numbers will have a few chances to acclimate and break things in before the weekend is over — the Dolphins have two more days of rookie minicamp left today and tomorrow as the coaches look to fast track the concepts Miami will use to define their team. That goes for on and off the field.
