Miami Dolphins promote wide receiver Isaiah Ford to active roster

The opportunities to get excited about football moves in 2019 for the Miami Dolphins have been few and far between. But the news that the Dolphins are elevating wide receiver Isaiah Ford to the active roster after having to place OL Danny Isidora on injured reserve should certainly cause a little bit of intrigue from the fanbase –the Dolphins are elevating third-year wide receiver Isaiah Ford to the active roster.

The Dolphins have seen teases of talent from Ford in limited opportunities — the wide receiver hasn’t been given much of a full fledged change to showcase his talents in South Florida to this point in his career, though.

With the constant state of injury with WR Albert Wilson and the concussion to veteran Allen Hurns, it’s logical that Brian Flores would want an extra wide receiver at his disposal in order to keep all of Miami’s formations and packages available before the bye week.

Ford was an accomplished college receiver at Virginia Tech — his high pointing skills and down the field ability commanding attention from fans and opposing defensive coordinators alike. And Ford would be a logical choice to step into some of the reps previously outfitted for Hurns in multiple wide receiver sets.

The obvious and primary beneficiary to Hurns’ absence will be Preston Williams — but Ford stepping onto the roster behind him means he should garner some targets with the quarterback he spent much of the preseason catching passes from, Josh Rosen.
